Why Your Fitness Goals Should Change Every Year

Alright, I know I’m a little late to the party when it comes to talking about New Year’s resolutions, but hey—better late than never, right?
Reflecting on my health and fitness journey over the past couple of years, I’ve realized just how much can change in a short amount of time when you commit, stay disciplined, and put in the work.
In 2023, I achieved one of my lifelong fitness goals—getting six-pack abs. It took about six months of dedication, nutritional discipline, and a whole lot of sacrifice. Along the way, I also ran a marathon in under 4 hours and 30 minutes and biked 100 miles straight in 5 hours and 30 minutes. Safe to say, it was a grind. But I loved every second of it.
Then came 2024—a year of growth.

As fun as it was being super lean (we’re talking 3-5% body fat), my mind, body, and soul told me it was time to bulk up again. So, I made a shift. I successfully gained over 30 pounds (mostly muscle, with some body fat), and I embraced the process of fueling my body for strength and performance rather than just aesthetics. It was a different challenge, but one that reminded me that fitness isn’t about staying in one phase forever—it’s about evolving.

Now, looking ahead to 2025, my goal is to maintain a body weight of 240-250 lbs while getting my six-pack abs back. It’s a balance of size and definition, and I’m excited to tackle this next phase of my journey.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned through all of this? Fitness isn’t linear. Your goals will change, and that’s okay. The key is being intentional with what you want and committing to the process.
